RFID is the present and future of technology. It automates and reduces human involvement with large inventories. Moreover, we can wirelessly identify anything without line of sight.
2. Why is EPC Gen 2 important?
EPC Gen 2 was designed to work internationally and has other enhancements that are significant, but the real benefit of Gen 2 is that it works anywhere in the world and major manufacturers of chips and tags have lined up behind it.
3. Can I buy a 5 cent tag?
EPC global's goal is to drive adoption of RFID technology to the point where massive numbers of tags are made each year and the cost for silicon-based tags that can store a unique serial number drops to 5 cents per tag. Costs have fallen steadily over the past few years and will decline further as adoption ramps up.
4. How accurate is the reading performance?
Human interaction is susceptible to errors, however, a well-designed system that detects and corrects errors can provide near perfect information about your supply chain.
5. Can you print/encode RFID labels?
Yes RFID labels can be printed and programmed. Very similar to the existing barcode process.
6. How fast is RFID printing?
It is just as fast as printing labels.
7. Will RFID replace barcode?
It's very unlikely. Bar codes are inexpensive and effective for certain tasks, but RFID and bar codes will coexist for many years.
8. What is the annual maintenance agreement?
The annual maintenance agreement is an optional program offered to all the clients. It includes technical support on site or phone and e-mail, free version upgrades during the term of the agreement and access to all maintenance updates.
